The 2014 Zhong Cha 8130 Lao Cang First Grade Liu Bao from Lao Tea Shop is a tea with an interesting flavour combination: camphor and notes of wet forest floor.
Young sheng puerh can be delicious, but sometimes it is too young for me. I tend to stay away from sheng puerh that is less than two years old.
The 1999 4 Gold Coins Liu Bao is full of creamy camphor and really goes the distance. This is definitely my favourite Liu Bao right now.
The 2016 Yiwu Wang Bing Gushu is a sweet and tannic tea with impressive energy. In a few years time, it will be less tannic and have the perfect Yiwu sweetness.
The 2010 Zhong Cha Duoteli 034006 from Lao Tea Shop was a tea full of energy. Flavours were subtle but the energy made sure every atom in my body was vibrating.
Experimenting in Gong Fu Cha is a way to get better tea. I bought a teapot for a particular tea but saw it’s much better to brew a different tea.
Tee Kontor Kiel’s Yiwu Gushu Sheng 2008 is a true gem. It’s the perfect amount of sweet and fruit with a long-lasting aftertaste.
The 2018 Mahei Owl is my favourite sheng puerh. It offers a combination of sweet honey, golden raisins and some citrus and tannic notes. It’s just right!
The TdC 2015 Hekai is one of my favourite puerh teas right now. It has some tonic notes, but is mainly dominated by sweet and exotic fruits.
The 2019 Formosa Dong Ding Qingxin Traditional from Tee Kontor Kiel is a solid oolong tea that offers floral flavours with roasted notes and a sour edge.
Tea Joint’s 2019 Tai Ping Hou Kui is a fantastic tea. It has everything I look for in a green tea: a light grassiness and a sweet and roasted nuttiness.
Moychay’s Hong Fu Jin Zhuan is a hei cha from Anhua in Hunan Province. It’s a warming and sweet tea with some fruity notes and a hint of medicinal flavours.
