Last week, Teamania sent me a box full of samples to try. It’s a mix of oolong tea, puerh tea and some white tea. I have tried some of their teas in the past and they have some pretty awesome stuff on offer.
Previously…
I have already tasted some of their teas and remember that I enjoyed them. You can find links to the articles here:
As you can see, I have tried a white tea, oolong tea and a Japanese sencha.

Meishan Winter Oolong (winter 2021)
For today’s session, I picked the Meishan winter oolong (winter 2021) because the aroma filled my nostrils when I opened the bag.
Brewing the leaves is not different. The aroma after the rinse offers a warming sensation with notes of burned apples and toffee. There is also a sourness that reminds me of fresh green apples.
The flavors are gentle but linger for a while in the aftertaste. I can feel some of the roast, but it adds to the complexity of the more gentle notes of sugar and apples.
The liquor looks thick and has a dark yellow color. It’s almost as if I’m drinking syrup!
Towards the end, more of the sourness is at the surface, but a toffee sweetness replaces it in the finish and aftertaste.
If this is the standard for the other teas, I can’t wait to delve into it.
