Life is finally slowing down… It has been a while since I sat down and made time for tea. I have been drinking endless bowls of tea while working, but sitting down for a proper Gong Fu tea session has been ages.

The tea I chose for the session is an early 90s Wuzhou Tea Factory liu bao. It is still one of my favorite types of tea, especially during winter and early spring.

I have been super busy the last 12 months as I am trying to get an extra degree so life got in the way of tea. However, I feel the time is right to return to my tea journey where I left off.

The leaves of this tea are really big and the aroma has strong notes of betel nut. There is also a fruity twist in there as it reminds me of cherry-flavored chewing gum.

Tasting

Smelling the teapot after the first infusion takes me back 5 years when I was looking for good liu bao. This is the aroma I was looking for! It feels like sitting in front of a fireplace while it’s snowing outside. A gentle coziness fell onto my shoulders.

The first infusion is not as intense and the color is amber. I can already sense betel nut waiting to show itself.

Nothing beats this feeling! Drinking comforting tea and knowing everything will work (itself) out.

The later infusions gently unfold and offer even more comfort. I’m also starting to notice hints of beets and ginseng. These add a refreshing twist to the session.

Happy that I made time for tea today. I hope that I can keep it up and do more frequent tea sessions again in the future. If not, it’s good to know that tea will always be there…
