It has been around half a year since I posted, and a lot has happened since then. Life got in the way, but over the last couple of weeks, I felt the leaf was calling… That is why I thought it would be a good idea to open a new 2006 Mengku Rongshi sheng puerh cake on our national holiday here in Belgium.
2006 Mengku Rongshi
I got a tong of this tea when I placed my first order at Cloud’s tea house almost 2(!) years ago. I did not realize it had already been that long since I got this tea.
I remember getting a pretty good deal on this as I got a tong + one extra cake for 2163 HKD. If I were to get one cake today, it would cost me 688 HKD for a single cake.
More information about my order at Cloud’s Tea House can be found here.
Puerh from Mengku has not disappointed me, and this tea is no exception. With 20 years under its belt, it’s definitely a tea that punches above its weight, especially at this price point.

Drinking this tea today while listening to some peaceful music on the patio is what life is all about. Just enjoying a quiet moment with good tea.
This tea session reminded me that making time for tea is always worth it. The only issue is drinking Gong Fu tea after work, as it is quite late and the caffeine might affect my sleep, which I don’t want.
That’s why I’m looking into other brewing methods to maintain a connection to tea without it negatively affecting me. But more on that later…
